Lola Burkett | Age 22 | Senior
Majoring in Sociology | Westbury University. Born in South Africa, but was raised in Washington, D.C. Afrikaan's is her first language, English is second. She's also fluent in Spanish and French. Her father is in the armed forces and served throughout the nine years in the Middle East. Her mother works as an immigration lawyer for one of the largest law firms in Washington. She’s always had a passion for writing and at a young age, started watching the news because she believes that the flow of information is the most important thing in the world.

People say she’s a walking contradiction. Looks like a lady, but curses like a sailor. She always goes out of her way to be friendly to waiters and doorman but is chronically late for appointments. She’s friendly, but persistent, cheerful but dogged. She always speaks her mind and is never afraid to stand up for herself, others and what she believes in and that’s why she wants to be a journalist.

Lola wants to graduate from Westbury and start a career in journalism, focusing on broadcast news. She wants to obtain a job with CBS News and hopefully work for the interview show '60 Minutes' because her idol has always been Mike Wallace. Lola left Westbury for a few months to return to South Africa. Behind a happy face lies Lola's worst nightmare.
